What we do
We’re media professionals who tell the stories of makers and growers and celebrate the regional communities they call home.
Led by veteran food writer Wendy Hargreaves, our team of journalists, photographers and videographers love a good yarn. We have a knack for finding great human stories and bringing them to life.
Wendy has spent decades reporting on people, places and events with national media companies in Australia and abroad. Now the born-and-bred country girl is using her journalism skills and extensive network to shine a light on regional Australia via live radio shows, video documentaries, podcasts and written stories.
We work with municipal councils, tourism organisations and food industry groups to help them reach audiences in meaningful ways.
Everyone’s got a yarn to tell, and we’re ready to listen.

The search for great human stories is Wendy’s bread and butter.
The Melbourne journalist and broadcaster has three decades’ experience in print, on air and online. Her stories have appeared in Australia’s biggest newspapers and magazines, and she’s a regular voice on Melbourne’s top-rating radio station, 3AW, where she presents On the Road Again, a live show about road trip destinations across regional Victoria. Wendy also created two award-winning short films about extraordinary women in the hospitality industry, Burnt and Obsession,
Wendy launched Bread & Butter Media in the darkness of Melbourne’s 2020-21 pandemic lockdowns with one big audacious goal: to reconnect people and communities by finding common ground.
Wendy also loves to chat, so sing out.
“Wendy’s non-biased and upbeat approach to both her life and work is a breath of fresh air in a highly competitive industry where everyone has an agenda. I have found her extremely trustworthy and I can’t wait for the opportunity to work with her again soon.”
