connect

what we do

We’re a team of industry-leading creatives who understand the power of unique human stories.

With a focus on food and destinations, we help businesses and communities tell their own stories in video, pictures and words. Our clients are community leaders who want to support their local makers, growers and tourism businesses, connecting them to the right people.

Our founder Wendy Hargreaves has spent decades reporting on people, places and events with national media companies in Australia and abroad. Now the born-and-bred country girl is using her journalism skills and extensive network to build connections through storytelling.

Wendy and her team of fellow journalists, photographers and videographers are explorers at heart, jumping at the chance to dive down rabbit holes in search of magic moments.

We believe everyone’s got a yarn to tell, and we’re ready to listen.

Connection

We connect people and communities with stories that cut through the noise.  We also collaborate with influential leaders to amplify the story. Check out Wendy’s live-streamed interview with award-winning food writer and hospitality campaigner Dani Valent.

I

agility

We’re a small team, so we’re agile and cost-effective. With decades of experience in media, we know the right people and get stuff done fast. And just so you know… we still get tingles when we experience those magic moments that create a great human story. That feeling never gets old.

The search for great human stories is Wendy’s bread and butter.

The Melbourne food journalist and broadcaster has three decades’ experience in print, on air and online.

Her stories have appeared in Australia’s biggest newspapers and magazines, and she’s a regular voice on Melbourne’s top-rating radio station, 3AW, where she presents “On the Road Again” every Sunday in Spring and Summer.

Wendy also created two award-winning short films about extraordinary women in the hospitality industry, Burnt and Obsession, along with online magazine Five of the Best.

Wendy launched Bread & Butter Media in the darkness of Melbourne’s 2020-21 pandemic lockdowns with one big audacious goal: to reconnect people and communities by finding common ground.

Wendy also loves to chat, so sing out.

Burnt

This award winning short film by Wendy Hargreaves explores how high stress, long hours and brutal pressure are all in a day’s work for chefs. So how do they deal with it? Danish executive chef Bente Grysbæk reveals how fire saved her life after a massive anxiety attack. These beautiful images in the bush north of Melbourne are by chef-turned-photographer Dean Cambray. Burnt won two short film awards at the Hollywood Dreamz International Film Festival and the Action on Film International Film Festival in Las Vegas. It was also nominated for best short documentary at Hollywood Dreamz.
